It has been ages since I have posted anything but I’m feeling better now so I am trying to get back on track. These are some old images but I kind of liked them so here they are. I’ll try and post more soon.

I finally got to take shots of some horses. I was lucky enough to be able to photograph the Milford Equestrian team as they performed at the Huron Valley Civil War Event held in Milford Michigan July 21 and 22 2012. The group represented a Calvary Unit and were even presented in front of the First Lady, Mrs Lincoln. They did a few riding routines to the delight of the crowd (I know I loved it!). I don’t have all the riders names yet, but I will be updating this post with their names and posting photos of the other team members soon. I took close to 200 photos of this group so there is a lot to go through.

Here are some shot of the Grand Blanc Living Historian Society that were taken during the American Heritage & Historics Festival in Frankenmuth Michigan. June 22 2012. The GBLHS will be holding their 3rd annual Civil War Reenactment in Grand Blanc Michigan. This years event is entitled “Antietam; The Aftermath” and will be held on Sept 1st and 2nd. If you are in the area come out and join in the fun. You can send me a note if you want more information on the group (they are always looking for new members), or the event in September.

Barn

Back in my day we didn’t have them there fancy digital cameras what recorded in that there color spectrum, the whole world was black and white.

Just a few random shots I took over the last couple of days. Not sure why, but I think old, rundown barns are quite interesting.

Puppet

You have to have a puppet!!

I was out at For Mar Nature Preserve when I stumbled into the Superhero Training Academy. This talented group was telling The Story of Pangea to young and old alike. It was quite an entertaining and interactive event, complete with a puppet show and lots of stuffed animals flying around to the delight of the crowd.  They do a great job of getting everyone involved, even giving each person their own superhero name, and energizing the crown with a great story and message. You can find out more about them at http://www.superherotraining.org. They were kind enough to let me take some pictures and I thought I would share some.

Bird

A bird. I know, quite obvious, but I don’t know what kind ’cause I don’t know my birds very well. You tell me.

These pictures were taken 6/23/2012 on my way to Frankenmuth Michigan for the American Heritage  & Historics Festival (well the bird was actually in town).

I was quite excited to learn that Lightroom 4 is now part of the Adobe Creative Cloud. I downloaded it first thing this morning and have been trying to learn how to work it most of the day. So far I have to say that I really like it. It has already made my life easier. I love that you can compare the original image with the changes side by side.

I attended the American Heritage & Historics Festival in Frankenmuth Michigan this past weekend and got to see some really passionate people doing their thing. Historical reenactors came from Georgia, Ohio, Indiana, and of course, Michigan to participate in the two day event. There were groups representing everything from the American Revolutionary War through the Vietnam war. The groups camp out under the stars living life as it would have been during their chosen period. The event included weapons demonstrations, lectures on period life, and mock battles. It was a blast!! (pun intended). I have pictures from the other groups as well, and will post them soon.
